I have a school where I work. It name is Prestasi Prima
Senior High School. It is in East Jakarta. There are many classes there, but
there is a favorite one. That is X IPS 1 where I am placed as a home room
teacher. There are some reasons why I like the class. The first reason is their
achievements. For example, there is a student here who gets high results every
semester. His results are the highest in the X grade. Not only him, but other
students have also gotten high grades as well. The 2nd through 12th ranks got
the final scores 86 to 88, whereas in other classes students who get the score
ranges, will have the rank ranges from 1 to 10. They are very ambitious to be
champions.
The second reason is their parents who are very cooperative to me as their home room teacher. When I talk about their children’s cases, developments, or actions, they will support me, and tell them when they get home. They do not defend their children when they are guilty. Everything I talk about that is related to the students' developments in school, in the parents’ whatsapp group, they will forward their children.
The third reason is about their parents' kindness. They think that I am very careful with their children, so they try to give me some presents. They did it when my school had to give the middle and last semester report. Almost all of the parents wanted to give it to me, but I said to them before that I will not accept their presents because I am worried about justice in educating students. I am afraid that if students' parents don't give me the presents, their children will not be educated the same as the students’ parents who give me the presents.
The fourth reason is the trouble male students. Why do I like him very much? It is not because I like the troublemaker students. It is because they train me to be the best home teacher in my school. As for information, I sometimes get achievements because my class has done well. But sometimes they make me feel ashamed because of their behavior towards the teacher. I must teach them several times as counseling guidance, and report to the vice principal of student affairs.
Because of them, I know how to solve students’ problems even very badly. They are like balancers in my class. Those are about my class that I like very much. I like them not only because of their good attitude, but also because of their bad attitude. They make my life dynamic, and like a challenge for me to be the best teacher. I think I will not be the best teacher if I have never faced those problems: “good and bad problems” simultaneously.
